Student Employee Orientation

Safety and Security

Fire Extinguishers are checked on a regular basis by the campus Safety Programs manager. Fire Exits are check to insure that they are in working order. Emergency lights are checked monthly.

First Aid kits are available at the Circulation Desk. Non-prescription pain killers such as aspirin and ibuprofen are available for student use. Hand the closed container to the patron who is then responsible to self-dispense any pills.

Worker's Compensation Insurance for on-the-job injuries covers student employees. This insurance provides for the payment of medical expenses and time-lost compensation to an employee who suffers the effects of an injury while on the job.

Fire Alarms will be checked in the interims. Any irregularities noticed during daily use will be corrected as needed. Keys are located at the Circulation Desk and batteries in the student employee workroom.

The Emergency Alarm Wall Panel is located on the wall near the Interlibrary Loan office. An alarm may go off periodically but staff on the desk just need to call ext.5656 and notify building maintenance. In the event of a full alarm broadcast leave the building immediately. All of the lights will flash throughout the library and a voice will instruct people to evacuate. Do not feel that you need to clear the library of guests if this occurs. It is the responsibility of designated evacuation captains to sweep the building.
