Sharalyn Williams, M.L.S., M.A.

Background

Sharalyn Williams has a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Studies, a Master of Library Science from Emporia State University (Archives Studies), and a Master of Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University (Change Leadership). She has been awarded Beta Phi Mu and Alpha Sigma Nu Honors. She previously interned at the Clark County Historical Museum, Portland Community College - Sylvania, and the Washington Rural Heritage Project at the Washington State Library. In her role at the Heritage Project, she worked on and digitized the Odessa, Washington and Joshua Elmer Photograph Collection. Sharalyn oversaw management of the ITT Technical Institute library in Portland, Oregon beginning in 2014, until its closure in 2016, and was the Circulation Assistant at Spokane Community College until being hired at Chastek Library in 2017 as the Public Services Librarian. Sharalyn was promoted to the Head of Public Services Librarian in June 2021.

Sharalyn was an active volunteer for the National History Days competition until 2016; a cataloging volunteer at the Independent Resource Publishing Center in Portland, Oregon; a Bite2Go SnackPack representative for Gonzaga University at Whitman Elementary School; and was a vaccine clinic volunteer at the local Chas Health vaccine popup at Gonzaga University.

Sharalyn is the Head of Public Services Librarian. In this position, she manages the Circulation, Reference, and Interlibrary Loan departments; provides reference and research assistance; teaches in-class workshops on library resources; and designs, implements, and evaluates all Chastek Library programming. She hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates professional staff members, as well as dozens of undergraduate and post-graduate student employees in the Public Services Department.
