In addition, a walk up computer with library resources is available for use. You may access the internet using your own laptop. Please ask at the Circulation Desk for the code to the law school’s guest wireless network.

REFERENCE

If you have questions or need help identifying and finding legal resources, you may ask the reference librarian located at the main desk on the first floor by the library front entrance. You may also call us at 509.313.3758.

The reference librarians may provide legal research assistance in finding legal resources; however, we cannot tell you what law applies to your situation or give you legal advice.

The Gallagher Law Library came up with common questions that a legal librarian is unable to answer:

  1. What does this legal phrase/word mean?
  2. What statute or law applies in my situation?
  3. Could you explain this case to me?
  4. Can you help me fill out this form or tell me if I have filled it in correctly?

However, a librarian might be able to help you if you ask:

  1. Where would I learn what this legal term means?
  2. How do I find which law applies in my situation?
  3. Is there a book or article that talks about this case?
  4. Do you have a sample of this form that I could look at or copy?
